British established two major research institutions to detect and improve the quality of synthetic grass sports. In previous studies, (Winterbottom, 1985; Baker & Bell, 1986) for 9 bears professional football natural turf, synthetic grass 13 and 18 of the synthetic grass is used for testing the performance of motion detection, and thus made a series of national, regional and local turf quality evaluation criteria. The next study (Baker, 1989,1990), for the six natural grass in different weather and trampling damage cases were measured five times as Football League Committee on the golf course as part of the evaluation of the quality, is compared with another six man-made course. In these studies concluded that: between natural turf and synthetic grass in spring rate, the sliding friction properties, sliding distance and shock absorption capacity there are big differences, overall it seems synthetic grass has a faster than natural grass ball speed and a higher hardness. In addition to the third generation synthetic grass 7 also conducted with the same measurement. The results show that the physical characteristics of natural grass with the measured time and the performance of the different measurement regions are some differences.
Sw Baker and AR Woollacott on synthetic grass lawns with high-quality natural objective assessment. They assume professional football eight natural turf pitch at different times in each season for three observations, observation projects have the ball and stadium surface interactions (including ball bounce rate, rolling distance and its rate change) and athletes the reaction mass stadium (sliding friction properties, surface hardness and shock absorption, cushioning ability). synthetic grass bounce rate varied between 42-50%, the rolling distance of 5.4-9.9m between the sliding friction in the range of 37-60 N, the surface hardness of between 108-168Gmax.
